For 20-something years I have HATED making ruffles!
I just learned a ruffle trick (I know, I'm probably the last
seamstress in the world to figure this out) and now I
can't get enough of them.
I thought that maybe, just maybe, there may be some
other ruffle hater out there that might enjoy this trick.
So, here it goes....easy, peasy ruffles.
My mom told me so many times not to touch
the tension knob that she scared me to death.
In all my years of sewing I've never touched it...
I'm so obedient! Shouldn't have listened to mom
however, because changing your tension is the
trick to "self ruffling". the normal tension on my
machine is 4.
Yes...TOUCH IT!! It's OK. That's 9 on mine.
sew! That's it, that's all, just sew. Your fabric
strip will come out the other side perfectly ruffled!
Sorry mom....I had to do it!
What a cool trick?! I totally did not know that!
ReplyDeleteAaaaah Bobbi...you nailed it! Love it!
ReplyDeleteI came across this about two months ago, and felt the same way... GREAT, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the blog comment, and for purchasing from my ebay store.

ReplyDeleteI've always been afraid of ruffles AND touching the tension! Thanks so much!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for posting this! My little girl is still a toddler, and I love adding ruffles to her clothes but I don't love the pain they can be. This is very, very helpful!
